國際關係學生必讀的十本書

哈佛大學甘迺迪學院的國際關係教授 Stephen Walt，2009年在《Foreign Policy》上開了書單：國際關係學生必讀的十本書。


1、Kenneth Waltz, Man, the State, and War (1959)

→國際政治理論（結構現實主義）大師，但這本沒讀過，Waltz最有名的作品應該是Theory of International Politics(1979)，也沒讀過。

2、 Jared Diamond, Guns, Germs, and Steel.（《槍砲、病菌與鋼鐵》）

→讀過，忘了九成九。

3、 Thomas Schelling, Arms and Influence(1966)

→大師名著，沒讀過，只讀過前一本《Strategy of Conflict》若干篇章，很難，對我來說。

4、James Scott, Seeing Like a State: How Certain Schemes to Improve the Human Condition Have Failed. (1998)

→耶魯大學政治系教授，著名區域專家（東南亞），著作包括1976年的《農民的道德經濟學》、1985年的《弱者的武器》）。大學讀過《農民的道德經濟學》，但全忘了。

5、 David Halberstam, The Best and the Brightest.

→沒讀過。只知道主題是美國介入越戰的決策失誤。作者另著有《最寒冷的冬天：韓戰真相解密》。

6、Robert Jervis, Perception and Misperception in International Politics.(1976)

→哥倫比亞大學政治系教授，2000-2001年美國政治學會會長，這本書是 Jervis 的第二本書，還沒讀，正準備念他的第一本著作《The logic of images in international relations》(1970)

7、John J. Mearsheimer, The Tragedy of Great Power Politics.(2001)(《大國政治的悲劇》)

→芝加哥大學政治系教授，攻勢現實主義、要跟台灣說掰掰的大師。

8、Ernest Gellner, Nations and Nationalism.(1983)

→民族主義（建構論）經典之一，另一經典為 Benedict Anderson 的《想像的共同體》。兩書初版皆為 1983 年。

9、Henry A. Kissinger, White House Years & Years of Upheaval.

→鼎鼎大名的季辛吉。我高中時讀過《大外交》，現在讀《World Order》(2014)。但這本沒讀過。

10、Karl Polanyi, The Great Transformation: the political and economicorigins of our time(1944)(《鉅變》)

→讀過三次，不喜歡，沒想到這本可以當國際政治來讀。
